Alexander Technique
Teacher Training Course

February, 2004
San Francisco, California

The Training
The Teacher Training develops in each student a deep
understanding and embodiment of the Alexander
Technique along with the expansion of consciousness
necessary to function fully as an Alexander Technique
Teacher.

The core of the training involves development of
hands-on skills through working closely with the
teacher and other students. The course will also
include basic anatomy, breath as a function of use,
readings pertaining to The Technique, classes on
how to build a practice, and current studies on the
mind-body connection. The student will be able to
understand, identify and address symptoms related
to repetitive musculoskeletal misuse.

The training takes place over three years and includes
1600 hours of class time. Classes meet for three hours
a day in the mornings, five days a week, for 36 weeks
throughout the year. The ratio of teacher to trainees
will be one to five. The California Center for the
Alexander Technique will also offer master classes with
senior Alexander teachers. Graduates will be certified
and eligible to join the American Society for the
Alexander Technique.
